Not sure about everyone else, but I still believe that the revolver can't be beat for most applications. It may need to be reloaded more often, but for reliability it is the best. It doesn't jam, and anyone can operate it.

Yeah but i wouldnt stick with just stick with one gun, I would most likely have a huge bag of guns and ammo.

I would never consider having only one firearm, but I would definatly consider the caliber. Ruger offers two Blackhawks that are convertile. They are the 38/357 with 9mm cylinder, and the 45 LC with the 45 ACP cylinder. With those, I can also have autos and only have to carry one caliber of ammunition. Get a carbine in the same caliber, and you are set.

Well, I am considered to be the 'Gun Nut' in my family. Throughout my posts, I will always mention the "best practice", but this does not mean that I strictly adhere to it. I always suggest to people to get a 38/357 revolver for self defense because of the simple operation, but the one on my nightstand is a 45 ACP. But I know what to do in the event that there is a problem with it, even under stress conditions. This is something that the 'average joe' probably will not know how to do.
